Nearly two years without a win, Colin Montgomerie admitted that he has to stop making mental mistakes because he has wasted dozens of shots this week in his 500th European Tour event. Now he is down at 137th in the world. But the next tournament is the Volvo China Open in three weeks.
He doesn’t want to miss this change like the failure of qualifying for The Masters.”I need to focus to get back into winning swing,” admits Colin Montgomerie. Hoping he can avoid the mental errors, Colin Montgomerie is looking for a win, or at less a top-10 finish. Let’s wait and see in the Volvo China Open.

Volvo China Open Golf
European Tour wants the Volvo China Open golf which is launched in the next month to retain the status quo, but not to become a co-sanctioned event with the new OneAsia Tour.
European Tour, Asian Tour and China Golf Association have managed the lucrative tournament together since 2004. However, China Open joins the OneAsia tournament. It causes the Asian Tour to severed all the ties with the new series.
“When a new Tour, OneAsia, is formed and another Tour, the Asian Tour, is removed at short notice from tournaments they have sanctioned for several years there are going to be issues that require some discussion and clarification.
“This takes time,” said Keith Waters, the European Tour’s director of international policy. For more information, please Click Here.

China Open will launch the OneAsia Tour in April. The relationship with the Asian Tour is ended. The director of the China Golf Association told the press that the event would now be co-sanctioned by the OneAsia and European Tours. The CGA wants to have all the events of OneAsia Tour in China because OneAsia offers more opportunities and quotas to Chinese players and more tournaments than Asian Tour. Volve, as the primary sponsor, also stays on the same side with China Open in order to enjoy the strong influence while keeping good relationship with the European and the Asian Tour. A record field of a 132 players will compete for a record tying $146,000.00 USD. The China tour has gotten bigger every year and the fields are stronger than ever. China Open
Australian golf officials are planning a new OneAsia Super Series. It is likely that this new tour will expand to 20 tournaments by 2011. In order to attract more famous golfers, the prize money of each tournament could be at least $1.5 million.
By 2011, the OneAsia would become the third largest golf tour in the world by taking in tournaments from the Australasian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese tours.
But this new tour is opposed by the Asian Tour which sanctions golf in the area while the Japanese tour planing to join the OneAsia next year.
There are already 6 tournaments announced for 2009 including the $2.9 million China Open. For more information, please Click Here.

It is impossible for the China Tour to expand to 10 events as expected because of the economic recesion. But the organizers manage to keep 8 tournaments this year. In such hard time, it can be considered a success.Although Omega has cut the investment slightly, it still holds the title sponsorship deal.
“No part of society is insulated (from the economic downturn) and that includes sport,” said Mould who is the World Sport Group’s East Asia president.
However, China has produced high level golfers like Liang Wenchong ,a winner on the Asian and European Tours, and Wu Ashun, who finished fourth at the Asia Tour’s Thai Open this month.
“We’ve said all along, ‘Guys, if we think we’re going to succeed tomorrow, we’re fooling ourselves,’” he said.
